It’s the most wonderful time of the year… well for me anyway. I bloody love Christmas. I love decorating the house, I love making stuff for people, I love the fact that the kitchen is 90% covered in glitter, I love the music, the events, the food, the carols, the films, the excitement, the look on my kids faces, I love making magic for those I love.
But Christmas isn’t this blissful for everyone. I totally get the anxiety and pressure that some people feel around this season. The crowds, the money, the putting on of a smile, the loneliness, the travel, everything. I get it. It’s a hard time for a lot of people.
So why not opt-out this year? Why not be kind to yourself and cancel the stuff that you don’t want to do? Put yourself first. Stay in PJs and order Chinese. Send a text not a card. Or if you’re lonely… ask a friend or relative or colleague or anyone what they’re up to… get yourself an invite and opt-in!
Christmas 2020 is the year to do what you want to do.
Ps as I write this I realise Christmas 2020 is a shit and lonely year for me… I’d love to be in love and spoiling someone… Maybe next year! I’ve still got my babies.
Here’s a great article from Mind
