Sometimes we get so caught up in life’s busyness that we forget to actually have fun. And when you’re ill you just want to hide away from the world.

Mindfulness teaches us to live in the moment. So let yourself live for a moment and enjoy what’s happening right now.

If you’ve got snow today as I have, get your boots on and get out. Enjoy crunching around in the snow. If you’ve got children it’s easy to have fun on a day like today. But if you haven’t you can still enjoy a lovely walk to enjoy the beauty that a snowy world brings.

The snow may only last for a day or even a few hours. Life’s chores will still be there when you get home. Don’t let them take over today. Put off the hoovering or tidying. Turn your phone and computer off. Let yourself enjoy a day and live in the moment. If you’re feeling anxious or down you might want to stay inside. Going out might feel like the last thing you want to do… you will feel better getting out. Be brave.

Getting out in the fresh air will do you the world of good. It’s easy to say it’s too cold or wet to go out, but remember that the weather always looks worse through a window. The change of seasons and weather gives us an opportunity to see and feel so many different senses. Warmth, cold, wet, dry.
